I'd buy these books based on cover art alone.

I'm not going to lie, sometimes I judge a book by its cover. At least at first. Great cover art can really draw me in and pique my interest in a novel. Below is a selection of my favorite cover art from books I'd like to own.

Spring, Heat, Rains: A South Indian Diary by Daivd Shulman / Blackbirds by Chuck Wendig

The Snobs by Muriel Spark / Swerve by John Estes

The Storm: A Novel by Margriet de Moor / Martha and Hanwell by Zadie Smith

The Revolution of Little Girls by Blanche McCrary Boyd / The Craftsman by Richard Sennett

The Short Novels of John Steinbeck / Confessions of an English Opium Eater by Thomas de Quincey

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and The Bookish.

  3. These are great! I especially like The Craftsman and The Storm covers. I will admit that I was initially drawn to The Snow Child for that same reason. I absolutely love the cover. I've always been sad that I didn't go into graphic design out of high school. Boo.

    1. The Snow Child does have a lovely cover. And graphic design - that would have been an awesome career path.

  5. I love these! I've seen pretty much only YA covers today, so this is like a fun treat :) I especially love The Craftsman cover, and I think I'd like to hang Swerve on my wall!

    1. The Snobs is fantastic. I've got a thing for water colors used in covers.

  10. These are beautiful. I love the Zadie Smith cover, which is from the UK. I always find myself drawn to UK and Australian covers. I like to bookshop on vacation, just to get the different covers. I might have a problem:)

    1. I know I've got a tendency to be drawn to UK covers. I feel like they almost always trump their US counterparts.

  11. I love the cover for Blackbirds. I would buy that for the cover alone, to remove said cover and stick in a frame. It reminds me of a cross between Coles Phillips's Fadeaway Girls, and those images made up of a bunch of smaller images.
