This weeks Top Ten Tuesday is a fun one: Top Ten books I just had to buy that are still sitting on my bookshelf.
Most people who know me know that I can't manage to walk into a bookstore without buying something. The books I just had to have, but are still sitting on my bookshelf waiting to be read months later are as follows:
1. Rabbit, Redux - John Updike
2. A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius - Dave Eggers
3. Middlesex - Jeffery Eugines
4. The Suicide Index - Joan Wickersham
5. Cat's Eye - Margaret Atwood
6. Little Women - Louisa May Alcott
7. The Man of My Dreams - Curits Sittenfeld
8. The Woman in White - Wilkie Collins
9. The Bell Jar - Sylvia Plath
10. The Prince and the Pauper - Mark Twain
I am going to get to a handful of these in the next few months, and I do plan on reading them all at some point, but they are the stragglers on my TBR bookshelf. Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and The Bookish.
You must get to Middlesex soon! Kidding. But really-- loved it! I've been searching for a cheap copy of The Woman in White to no avail. I need to read it, especially since The 13th Tale was filled with references to the title. Oh, and I'm reading The Bell Jar this month for my feminist book club, which just happens to be a title on my Classics Challenege list. It's been WAY overdue so I'm exited to finally get to it. I can't wait to hear your reviews and share notes!
ReplyDeletethe rabbit books are a good one - i've read "rabbit, run" two or three times, but haven't even finished the second book in the series. yet another one (well, three - since i have the whole series sitting around, mostly unread) to add to my list.

Beth, I've got Middlesex on my classics challenge so I will get to it soon! Also, I found my copy of The Woman in White at B&N - the classics edition was only $6 or $7.

ReplyDeleteI have so many John Updike books that I haven't read- I got a bit overexcited by the New Yorker's tribute to him, where they printed loads of extracts of his writing... I loved it, but somehow haven't got round to reading the books yet!

Ooohhh I highly recommend "The Man of my Dreams"! SO GOOD! Curtis Sittenfeld is one of my favorite authors :)

Middlesex is really good. The Woman in White is a little overly long, but still worth reading. I think it's better than The Moonstone which was my first Wilkie Collins.

I've read a few of these. Man of My Dreams was okay, but not as good as Prep. I love Heartbreaking Work.
