A trip to Madison and some new books.

I'm a University of Wisconsin alumnus and with the political mess that is Wisconsin right now I took a day trip to my old campus to do some bar-hopping protesting, and visit the University Bookstore, of course.

And the books:

Chuck Palahniuk, Snuff
Kurt Vonnegut, Slaughterhouse-Five
Shirin Ebadi - Iran Awakening
Jhumpa Lahiri - Interpreter of Maladies

  1. I haven't read the Palahniuk, but I loved the other three. Enjoy!

  2. How was it wandering around the campus during the protests? Also nice book haul. Can't wait to see your thoughts on Vonnegut

  3. Vonnegut is my fave author, so I'm looking forward to finding out what you think of Slaughterhouse-Five. And the Lahiri is brilliant! Enjoy your haul :)

  4. Nymeth, I will! Thanks :)

Red, The city is crazy. Because I know how it is on a normal weekend it was surreal to see all those people there protesting. I was really happy I got a chance to go and see it.

    Nadia, Lahiri is brilliant.

  5. Good :) you finally bought Vonnegut! I'm curious about what you think about this Palahniuk. Not his most women friendly tome.

  7. Ben, Yes I did and I thought of you! Snuff will only be my second Palahniuk (after Diary) so I'm not super familiar with him. I'm also not easily offended when it comes to objectifying women so I don't know that I'll take offense.

    Stacy, I did!

  8. Glad to see your haul included Vonnegut. He's become a favorite of mine in the past year or so. I live in his hometown and a memorial library was recently opened (and they have a monthly book club!) which has amped up my interest even further.
