Earnest Hemingway's son has made a collection of men's loafers inspired by his father, who was a fan of the shoes. They are divided into literary, angler and sportsman collections. Me? I'm a fan of the literary:
Hemingway's grandson, Steven, details that "Hemingway hated socks. Socks meant that summer was over and you were going back to school." (via The Bozeman Daily Chronicle)
Oh my, I hate socks too. I refuse to fold them all summer and only go back to folding socks when the kids go back to school. I don't wear socks again till it snows here.
ReplyDeleteExactly! How fabulous would these shoes be? And yes, I strictly wear flip flops or anything open toed in the summer. I like your style, Booksnob :)
ReplyDeleteHmnnn...those are rather snazzy. Maybe authors will start branching out like musicians...literary clothing labels anyone?
ReplyDeleteThose look like perfect replacements for my worn out slippers! They don't look much like shoes, at least not shoes I could wear to work!
ReplyDeleteMayowa - I think that's a great idea!
ReplyDeleteEric - Yes I think these are more just casual but the other lines I mentioned are a little more dressy. Click on the link and look at them all.
Love it!
ReplyDeleteI have a love/hate relationship with socks. I wear my sandals for as long as possible before the snow flies... but when I do switch over to socks and real shoes, I like cute socks!
Those are some fab looking shoes - if I were a bloke I would definitely buy them. Pretty snazzy! As for socks, I am in agreement - UGH! I would rather wear my Havaianas all the time than shoes with socks, especially during the summer. Blech!
ReplyDeleteKate - When it's time to wear socks I like cute socks too. Esp cute Christmas socks around the holidays :)
ReplyDeleteNadia - I seriously LIVE in my havaianas during the summer! And I love that bloke is in your lexicon - so cute :)
I didn't see the link the first time around. I wish I hadn't clicked on it though, now I have to figure out away to justify spending $100+ on a pair of shoes.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure I can think of something!
Eric - I know but aren't they just fabulous? Lets think about it this way; these shoes would be like an investment. Much like the $200 iPhone you just got. Or we could say life is too short and just buy the f'ing shoes already :)
ReplyDeleteTrue enough, not to mention I'd look pretty darn cool in them : )
ReplyDeleteWell that goes without saying, of course.
