Top Ten Sexiest Male Authors

I decided to mix it up for this week's Top Ten Tuesday, hosted by the Broke and the Bookish. There are many reasons I love being a book blogger - mostly because I have "met" so many great people who share my love for books. But rather than get sentimental about that, I thought it would be fun to give you all a little eye-candy and highlight the best looking authors.

Enjoy!

Ernest Hemingway/ William Faulkner

Jack Kerouac/ Joshua Ferris

Galway Kinnell/ Paul Auster

Sebastian Junger/ Langston Hughes

Frederic Beigbeder/ John Irving

  1. Haha I love your top ten list. I can't say I would have made all the same choices but love what you have and the pics you found.

  3. Nicely done! ;) I need to do this from the male perspective - I'll credit you appropriate.

    Ernest Hemingway?!

  4. Red, I'm curious what choices you would have made! Did I miss anyone?

Ben, Sesh I know. So sexy.

Greg, It's this thing I have I'm not sure why but I think he is GORGEOUS.

  5. Ernest Hemmingway is serious eye candy! I agree with you on him. For me, it has to do with his dark personal life. I think that adds a lot to his looks!

  6. What an excellent list. Def. got my Tuesday morning off to a good start. However I will admit, just being a writer gives guys an automatic +5 sexy points in my book... or at least being a GOOD writer.

  7. Jaycie, That's a good point.

Padfoot and Prongs, I agree with you 100%.

  8. Awesome list! I might have to steal this idea for freebie week (I looked ahead at future topics).

  9. I don't think I'd have Irving on my list but I'll have to give it a think and come up with some. Perhaps I'll steal this for a future post of mine.

  10. Loni, Go for it!

Red, Irving definitely isn't the sexiest of them, but I do think he is pretty good looking. I hope you do use this for a future post! I'd love to see your choices :)

  11. I have a thing for Hemingway too. But I also met Simon Van Booy at BEA, and oh. my. gosh. Gorgeous. At the time he was wearing tortoise-shell glasses as well.

  12. picky, I forgot about Simon Can Booy. Good call. I'll bet he's even better in person.

  13. May I suggest James Franco as an addition to the list?

  14. Dee, OMG James Franco! How could I forget about James Franco? Well, I mostly associate him with actors, but I know he is published. Good call! He's gorgeous.

  15. For a moment there I thought you had made a list of sexist authors... :) It's a great list, agree with Hemingway and Auster especially. Would add Lord Byron and John Grisham.

  16. Alexandra, Top Ten Sexist Authors... now that would be an interesting post! Haha. John Grisham is a good choice, but he is a little too baby-faced for my taste. Byron is a solid choice as well, though I wonder what he would have looked like in a photo.

  17. Haha nice. I'm glad someone else shares in the Auster love. Had no idea that's what Sebastian Junger looks like and...uh, my interest in reading his stuff may have just gone up.

I've always had a thing for DFW - something about that bandanna: http://www.wpr.org/book/images/david_foster_wallace.jpg

  18. Ellen, The bandanna is pretty sexy.

  19. I love your choices, esp 3, 4 and 7! I'd add Dave Eggers and Neil Gaiman to that list. Yowza.

  20. Like, Hello yes. I love you. Take me to bed and then write beautiful literature. I'll be your muse.

  21. I love your list!

  22. a. James Franco is a writer? (In response to a comment above)
    b. Now I love Joshua Ferris and will have to read his books just so I can picture his handsome face reading the lines to me. Don't tell my husband.

  23. Melissa, Dave Eggers is hot. Good call.

    Leica, Ha! Yes!

    reviewsbylola, Thanks :)

L.L., He is. He published a book last year, I believe. I haven't read it - I know it's fiction and a lot of people said the only reason he got published was because he was a celebrity. But i also know he went to Columbia for the MFA writing program, so it might be good. Also, on the Joshua Ferris front, I really liked Then We Came to the End.

  24. I love that you have Frederic Beigbeder on here! I don't think I've 'met' anyone else who has heard of him. Windows on the World made me cry... truth.

    ReplyDelete
  25. You should do a female author list... stat! I am having a hard time coming up with any. I guess Rowling isn't half bad come to think of it.

    ReplyDelete
  26. She, I actually haven't read anything of his, but I have read about Windows on the World and it's on my TBR.

Eric, A few that come to mind off the top of my head are Jhumpa Lahiri, Tea Obreht, Zadie Smith and Nichole Krauss

  27. I've never been a fan of Paul Auster's looks but that pic is hot! /superficial comments that will come back to haunt me later

@picky um hell to the yes for Simon Van Booy

    ReplyDelete
  28. booklush, Paul Auster is pretty old now, so he's not as good looking. But in his day, he was gorg. And don't worry about the superficial comment coming to haunt you - my massive superficial post was pretty bad.

  29. I saw the title and misread it. Thought it said top 10 SEXIST writers. This is not the same thing.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Jason, Yes, they are two very different things :)

    ReplyDelete
  31. Michael Chabon is quite nice.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Bybee, Yes. Yes he is you're right.

  33. Nice post! I didn't know that William Faulkner, Paul Auster and Jack Kerouac were so handsome! If you had looked outside American authors, I think you might have liked Albert Camus (looks like a golden age Hollywood idol!) and Yukio Mishima (those six-pack abs are so awesome!) too :)

    ReplyDelete
  34. LOL, when I read your title I thought it said "sexist" authors. Ouch!

I do agree with your hunky choices. Especially Auster -- I've had a crush on him for years!
